My Compact Camera Gear

When exploring abandoned places or camping in remote locations, carrying heavy camera equipment simply isn’t practical. Over time I built a compact and ultralight camera setup that allows me to capture high-quality footage while still fitting inside a single backpack together with my everyday carry (EDC) and urbex gear.

This camera kit has grown organically over more than a year of real use. Instead of buying everything at once, I added gear whenever I needed something specific in the field. The result is a practical and lightweight filmmaking setup that works well for urban exploration, stealth camping, hiking and adventure filming.

Why I Use an Ultralight Camera Setup

At the center of the setup is my action camera, which I use as the main filming tool for most of my adventures. Action cameras are perfect for this type of content because they are small, durable and easy to mount in many different ways.

Combined with compact tripods, a chest mount for POV shots and a lightweight drone for aerial footage, this kit allows me to capture a wide variety of shots without carrying heavy equipment.

Lighting and power management are also important when filming in remote locations. Small video lights, power banks and spare batteries ensure that I can keep filming even during long overnight trips or when exploring dark abandoned buildings.

The Camera Gear I Currently Use

Another key part of this setup is organization and protection. Compact pouches, protective cases and SD card organizers help keep all gear safe, dry and easy to access while traveling. This makes it possible to pack everything efficiently inside a backpack while still having quick access to the most important items.
